Obituary: Rock Valley, Iowa: Johanna A. Ver Mulm, 79, of Rock Valley, died Monday, February 6, 2012 at Hegg Memorial Health Center in Rock Valley. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 9, 2012 at First Reformed Church of Rock Valley with Pastor Harlan DeJong and Pastor Garry Nyenhuis officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery of Rock Valley. Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at First Reformed Church of Rock Valley..
Johanna Arlene (Vonk) Ver Mulm was born August 12, 1932 in Inwood, daughter of Marinus and Bertha (Bos) Vonk. On March 29, 1950, Johanna was united in marriage with Robert Ver Mulm in Inwood. Johanna worked hard as a homemaker for her family. Johanna was a life long member of the First Reformed Church of Rock Valley where she was a Sunday School Teacher, helped with Vacation Bible School, and was a member of the women's circle. She also delivered meals on wheels, enjoyed babysitting and was in the Foster Grandparent program.
Johanna is survived by her sons, Robert Ver Mulm and his special friend Jeanne Meyer of Sioux Center; Donald (Nancy) Ver Mulm of Wyoming, Michigan; Douglas (Lisa) Ver Mulm of Rock Valley; and Roger (Jill) Ver Mulm of Sioux Center; daughters, Donna Reekers of Rock Valley; Ruth Ver Mulm of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and Delores (Steve) Stratmeyer of Tea, South Dakota; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sisters, Hermina Besselsen of Grand Rapids, Michigan; Arlene (Gilbert) Van Holland of Rock Valley; and Bernice (Ferdinand) Tilstra of Hills, Minnesota; one brother, Marvin (Eleanor) Vonk of Rock Valley and a special friend, Mel Van Otterloo of Hull. Johanna was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert, daughter-in-law Joyce Ver Mulm, and sister Jeanette Gaalswyk.
