Obituary of Chas. Doan: Buried Here Last Thursday.
The funeral of Mr. Charles Doan, who died at his home in Long Beach, California, Feb. 2nd, 1936, was held at Hope Cemetery last week Thursday. Rev. Richard A. Jager of the American Ref. church of Hull officiated.
Mr. Charles Doan was born January 23, 1848 in Canada of Quaker parents. He moved to Iowa in 1880 and in 1899 his wife died. His son William also preceded him in death many years ago. He had always been a farmer and retired in 1910, and with his daughter Mary moved to California.
He had always been a faithful member of the Methodist Church, and funeral services were conducted for him by Rev. Merrill on Feb 5th at the Long Beach First Meth. church.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Lavina Sedgwick and Miss Mary A. Doan both of Long Beach CA.
(Found that Charles Doan was born 23 Jan 1848 in Newmarket Ontario CAN to Amos Doan 1803-1873 and Margaret A. Lloyd 1812-1870. He was married to Elizabeth 'Eliza' J. Boomer daughter of William and Sarah Boomer in Canada.)
