Orville Kroeze
ORANGE CITY, Iowa - Orville Kroeze, 72, of Orange City died Thursday, May l, 2003, at Orange City Municipal Hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Redeemer United Reformed Church in Orange City, with the Rev. Ralph Pontier officiating. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City.
Orville Gerrit was born Jan. 20, 1931, at Alton, Iowa, the son of Peter and Bertha (Jeltema) Kroeze. He was raised in the Maurice, Iowa, area, where he attended school.
On March 28, 1951, he married Evelyn Kiel at Orange City. They farmed in the Orange City
area and were still farming at his death. "Orv" enjoyed the farm, especially his animals and milking cows. He loved being surrounded by his family and visiting with everyone. History fascinated him, and he had a vast knowledge of trivia. Orville was a member of Redeemer
United Reformed Church, where he had served as an elder. He had also served on the boards of Orange City Christian School and Unity Christian High School in Orange City.
Those who mourn his early passing, but rejoice in his heavenly
entry, include his wife, Evelyn; eight children and their spouses, Beverly and Merlin
Zwart of Sioux Center, Iowa, Nancy and Bill Kingma of Hawarden, IA., Paul and Lori Kroeze and Rachel and Dale Te Grootenhuis all of Orange City, Brian and Nancy Kroeze of Chattanooga, Tenn., Dan and Linda Kroeze of Hull, Iowa, Sharon and Galen Smidt of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Jon and Laura Kroeze of Mounds View, Minn.; 29 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marjorie Van Ommeren of Boyden, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
