March 9, 1951 - June 21, 2005 LeAnn (Van Peursem) Jager, 54, of Maurice, Iowa died unexpectedly, Tuesday, 6/21, at the Sioux Center Community Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, 6/26, at 2pm at the Maurice First Reformed Church of Maurice, Iowa with Rev. Wayne Sneller officiating. Interment will follow in Sherman Township Cemetery of Maurice, Iowa.
Visitation will be held Saturday, 6/25, from 2pm to 8pm, with the family present from 2pm to 3:30pm and 6pm to 8pm at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center.
LeAnn Kay (Van Peursem) Jager was born March 9, 1951, to Alfred and Geraldine (Peelen) Van Peursem in LeMars, Iowa. The Van Peursem family farmed near Maurice until four years after Alfreds death. LeAnns mother then moved the family into Maurice. LeAnn is the youngest of five children.
LeAnn graduated from Maurice-Orange City Community High School in 1969 and went on to attend NICC for bookkeeping related training.
LeAnn was united in marriage to Perry Jager August 7, 1970, at the Maurice First Reformed Church. Shortly after their wedding Perry was sent to Vietnam and LeAnn lived with her mother in Maurice. When Perry returned to the United States LeAnn joined him in Tennessee. In 1973, Perry and LeAnn purchased their home in Maurice. LeAnn stayed home and raised their three children for a number of years. She later held various jobs outside the home. Most recently she was employed at Med-Tec in the accounts payable department.
LeAnn was a member of the Maurice First Reformed Church. In spring 2005 she participated in a church sponsored work project to Brewton, Alabama. LeAnn was profoundly impacted by her trip. LeAnn found it fulfilling to help others that had so little. She was the clerk for the City of Maurice and involved with various city activities. LeAnn enjoyed visiting with people and helping others in any way she could. She also enjoyed their camper by Okoboji, fishing and spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren. LeAnn loved taking pictures of her family and displaying them for others to see.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 34 years, Perry of Maurice; her three children and their families: Shannon and Michael Britt of Watertown, SD and their two children: Grant and Erica; Shane and Marci Jager of Maurice and their son, Carson; and Brent and Jillian Jager of Sumner, WA; her sister and brother-in-law; Leola and John De Jong of Maurice; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Marion and Sadie Van Peursem of Maurice and Dean and Gladys Van Peursem of Snohomish, WA; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sherril & Leroy Krikke of Salida, CA; sister-in-law, Gayla Wielenga of Boyden; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Curt & Marlys Jager of Orange City and Warren & Barb Jager of Arnolds Park; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
LeAnn was preceded in death by her parents; infant brother at birth, Lloyd Van Peursem; sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Pete De Koter; father-in-law and mother-in-law; Albert and Maxine Jager; brother-in-law, James Wielenga and nephew, Brian Jager.
