SHELDON, Iowa - Marguerite H. Vermeer, 87, of Sheldon died Saturday, March 23, 2002, at Northwest Iowa Health Center in Sheldon.
Services will be 11 a.m. today at Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon, with Kenneth Versteeg, religious services coordinator at Village Northwest in Sheldon, officiating. . Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery.
Marguerite H. Vermeer, the daughter of Dr. Gerritt and Vashti (Cram) Vermeer, was born June 11, 1914, in Rock,Valley, Iowa. She moved with her parents to Sheldon in 1917. She received her education in Sheldon and graduated from Sheldon High School in 1933. She also graduated from Stephens College in Columbia, Mo., in 1935, and attended the University of Arizona in Tucson for one and a half years. She returned to the Sheldon area, where she made her home.
Marguerite moved into the Beehive, an assisted living facility in Sheldon, on April 14, 2001.
She was a member of PE.O. in Sheldon and enjoyed reading.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Helen Hayes of Hampton, Va.; a nephew, Gary Hayes of Jamestown, N.C.; three grand-nieces; very close family friends, Sidney "Sid" and Marie Vander Griend of Sheldon and their children; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister.
