Boyd G. de Koning, 58, passed away at his rural Pawnee City, NE home on July 24, 2011. He was bom to Cornelius "Neal" and Margaret (Fleck) de Koning on March 15, 1953 in Pawnee City, NE. He attended a one room country school, District #29, Pleasant Hill in Pawnee County through the eighth grade and graduated from Summerfield High School in 1971.
After graduating in 1971, Boyd hitch-hiked to Alaska where he spent the summer Later he lived in Tbpeka, KS where he worked construction. In August 1973, Boyd moved to Pleasantville, IA where he farmed and worked in a beef packing plant. While there, he met his first wife, Karen. They moved back to the Pawnee County area in January of 1980. They lived on five different farms before settling on the home place after his mother's death in 1991. Farming was his livelihood and he took great pride in it. Boyd was united in marriage to Karen Anderson at the Woodland Hills Church of Christ in Des Moines, IAon March 14,1975. Together they had two children; Dusty and Harley. Karen passed away on June 27,2006. Boy then married Carlene Van

Boyd was a strong man of principle and had very strong conservative values:
He enjoyed talking politics and listening to Rush Lumbaugh. He was often quoted as saying, "I don't have much use for government bureaucrats." His other hobbies included; riding his Hariey, hunting, trapping, and visiting friends and family.
He is survived by his wife, Carlene, son, Harley de Koning and wife Carrie of Axtell, KS and daughter, Dusty Duis and husband Matt of Odell, four granddaughters: Reagan, Sierra, Adrian and Ashley, brothers, Lynn de Koning and wife Cecelia of Burchard, NE, Leon de Koning and wife Nelta of Pottorsville, MO, Burt de Koning of Pawnee City, NE, Dean de Koning and wife Denise of Pawnee City, NE, Dirk de Koning and wife Shannon of Summerfield, KS and Carl de Koning of Pawnee City, NE and first mother-in-law, Betty Anderson of Unionville, MO. Boyd was blessed with many loving brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Boyd was preceded in death by his parents, Neal and Margaret, first wife, Karen and father-in-law, Durwood Anderson.
