Interment: Memory Gardens Cemetery, Sioux Center, Iowa
Kenneth Wayne was the son of Gerrit E. and Janna Hendrika (Te Grotenhuis) Den Herder. He was raised at Sioux Center, where he graduated from high school. On February 17, 1950, he married Elizabeth M . De Jong at Orange City. They farmed at Sioux Center for forty years. He also did custom farming, and he was associated with Ag-Lime Fertilizer for thirty years. He was a member of the First Reformed Church. Mr. and Mrs. Den Herder wintered in Texas for thirteen years, where they sang in a choir.
Ken's family was important to him. He enjoyed traveling with his fifth wheel trailer, going for rides, and eating out. He especially liked horses and harness racing.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Elaine Den Herder of Minneapolis, Minnesota; three sons, Larry Den Herder and his wife, Sharee, of Sioux Center; Lyle Den Herder and his wife,
Sharon, of Sioux Center; and Gregg Den Herder of Stephens City, Virginia; eight grandchildren, Ross, Reid, Maggie, Angela, Joe, Savanna, Michael and Sarah; a great-grandchild. Gage; two
brothers, John H. Den Herder and Alvin Den Herder, both of Sioux Center; and a sister, Janice Sandbulte of Luverne, Minnesota.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Elmer and Gordon Den Herder, and two sisters, Alydia De Vries and Jeanne, in childhood.
