Kathryn Lillian " K a y " Carlson 93, of Sioux Center, formerly o f Sioux City, died Sunday, June 15, at Royale Meadows Care Center in Sioux Center.
Funeral service will be Thursday at noon at Carmel Reformed Church, with the
Rev. Daniel Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at 3 p.m. in Graceland Park Cemetery in Sioux City.
Mrs. Carlson was born July 28, 1914, to Joe and Marie (Mulder) Fischer in George. When she was one year old, her family moved to a farm near White, South Dakota. She attended the White, South Dakota, school system. She often discussed her personal faith and a
specific experience she had with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ when she was a teenager. She lived with her parents until 1939 when she moved to Sioux City. She was employed at the T. S. Martin Department Store and later at Younkers downtown store. She married Joe Carlson in 1953, making their home in the Morningside area of
Sioux City. He preceded her in death in 1981.
Survivors included a sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Lawrence Johnson of Minneapolis, Minnesota; brother and sister-in-law, John and Marlys of Owatonna , Minnesota; three sisters-in-law, Gloria Fischer of Rock Valley, Ruthand Anna-mae Fischer both of Tyler, Minnesota; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers and sisters-in-law, William and Mattie
Fischer and Rudy and Heikie Fischer; three brothers, Henry, Ailt and Dick Fischer; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Lena and Henry Hulseb us and Anna and Matthew Kruse.
