Matilde Mabel Castelan - Vargas, 17, of Sioux Center died Thursday, November 2, 2000.
She was bom to Jose Antonio Castelan and Maria Vargas on December 18, 1982 in Tulancingo, Mexico. She was a member of the senior class at Sioux Center Community High School. She enjoyed singing in the Sioux Center High School Choir. Her school honored Matilde as Student
of the Month in April 2000. Miss Castelan played basketball and is remember as a young person who liked helping people. She was a wonderful daughter and sister.
Matilde is survived by her parents; two brothers: Jose and Diego; one sister: Jessica; grandparents: Antonio Castelan Ruiz, Matile Omana Peralta, and Tarcicio Vargas, all of Mexico; aunts and uncles: Maura, Felipe, Trinidad, Alejandro, Irma, Raul, Saul, Delfino, Gersain, Tarcicio, Marta, Patricia, Jorge; and many cousins.
