Ernest J. Van Steenwyk, age 63, of Santa Ana, Calif., died Jan. 12, 1991 in Santa Ana.

Ernest John was born May 2, 1927 at Alton, the son of William & Tillie (Bloemendall) Van Steenwyk.

He lived in Orange City for many years, moving to California in 1965.

Survivors include two daughters, Debra Heinsma of California, and Cheryl Van Steenwyk of Chicago; a son, Scott Van Steenwyk of California; two grandchildren; a brother, Willard Van Steenwyk of Orange City; and three sisters: Mrs. Willard (June) Van Peursem and Mrs. George (Joyce) Vogel both of Orange City and Mrs. Harris (Rita) Van Oort of Omaha, Neb.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four children.

Memorial services were held on January 18 at a Christian Reformed Church in Bellflower, Calif. A committal service will be held in the spring at West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City under the direction of the Van Etten-Oolman-Van Gelder Funeral Home of Orange City.

NOTE: Buried in West Lawn Cemetery, found a grave of his wife Anna. She died December 5, 1998 in California and buried in West Lawn Cemetery, two sons, Darrel & Dennis and stillborn twins are the 4 children that died young. Anna's maiden name was Huizenga. This information was not in the obituary for Ernest John.
