MILITARY SERVICES HELD FOR CASE VER MULM

Funeral services for Cornelius (Case) Ver Mulm, 64, who died Saturday morning [January 16] at his home here after a long illness, were held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the home and at 1:30 p.m. at the First Reformed church, of which he was a member for 38 years.

Rev. Milton Doornbos officiated and burial was in Valley View cemetery under direction of the Cooperative funeral service of Sioux Center. Pallbearers were Hans Moorlag, Gerrit Wissink, John Dirksen, Herman Dirksen, Maas Bliek and Will Winterfeld. Graveside military rites were conducted by the Pfarrer Fox post, American Legion.

The deceased was born June 17, 1895, in The Netherlands, the son of Cornelius and Elsie Ver Mulm. He came to Rock Valley at the age of six. His marriage to Artie Van Zee took place Feb. 25, 1920, at Rock Rapids. He was a veteran of World War I and a 35-year member and past commander of the American Legion post here. He was employed by the Sioux county maintenance garage for 19 years and held partnership in Valley Wood Works for eight years.

Survivors include the widow, Artie and seven children: Elsie, Mrs. Willis De Jongh of Spencer; Lena, Mrs. Joe Curcio of Chicago, Ill.; Jeanette, Mrs. Jack Wegge of Dearborn, Mich.; Frances, Mrs. Charles Hegwein of Sonora, Calif.; Leonard and Robert of Rock Valley and Lyle of Chicago, Ill.; 16 grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Peter Vugteveen of Artesia, Calif.; Mrs. Sam Buma of Inwood and Mrs. Henry Harmelink of Colton, S.D., and two brothers, Nick Ver Mulm of Artesia, Calif., and Bill Ver Mulm of Rock Valley.

He was preceded in death by one son, Conrad, in 1939.
