Sioux Center News, October 30, 1958

Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the First Christian Reformed Church of Orange City for Mrs. Floyd Ver Maat, 53, who passed away Monday, October 20, at the Sioux Center Community Hospital where she had been a patient since July. She had been stricken with a malignancy some three and a half years ago.

Rev. J. B. Hulst officiated and burial was made in the Orange City cemetery.

Mrs. Ver Maat, nee Edith Zevenbergen, was born in the Netherlands, April 27, 1905, and came to Orange City with her parents in 1921. She married Floyd Ver Maat on February 15, 1928, and to them were born three sons and one daughter, who, with their father, survive: Peter of Fairmont, MN; John of Orange City, Donald of Grand Rapids, MI, and Joan (Mrs. Ed Frerichs) of Sioux City.

Also surviving are seven grandchildren, six brothers and one sister: Peter Zevenbergen in the Netherlands, William and James of Orange City, Arie of Sibley, John and Cornie of Baldwin, WI, and Johanna (Mrs. Herman Vande Vegte) of Hull.
