OBITUARY OF JERRY BLOEM

Jerry Bloem, whose death was mentioned in last week's Bee, was born at Westerlee, Netherlands, on October 25, 1869. He died in a hospital at Mitchell, S.D., Tuesday, July 11.

Mr. Bloem spent his early life in his native land. He came to this country in 1891, and located in Rock Valley, and he resided near here until 1916, when he moved with his family to Clearwater Township, South Dakota.

He was united in marriage with Miss Harmke Lameyer on February 26, 1903. Nine children were born to this union, seven sons and two daughters. Both daughters died in infancy. The seven sons are living in South Dakota and are as follows: John, of Howard; Hilko, Ben, Jerry, Dick, Dan, and Henry, all at home. Besides his sons and other relatives, Mr. Bloem leaves his widow, who, with her children, were all here for the funeral services.

Mr. Bloem was a member of the Dutch Reformed church and was a well respected citizen in the community where he lived.

Funeral services were held at the home Friday afternoon with Rev. R. Roberts of the Union Presbyterian church presiding. The remains were brought to Rock Valley for burial and further funeral services, which were held in the First Reformed church with Rev. H. J. Aberson in charge, and the remains were taken to the Valley View Cemetery.
