SIOUX CENTER, Iowa - Gerrit Bleyenberg, 96, of Rock Valley, Iowa, formerly of Sioux Center, died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2000, at Hegg Memorial Health Center in Rock Valley.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. today at Memorial Funeral Home in Sioux Center, with the Rev. John den Hoed of Netherlands Reformed Congregation in Rock Valley officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Mr. Bleyenberg was born Feb. 27, 1904, in Sioux Center, the son of Derk and Aartje (Lagerwy)
Bleyenberg. He married Gertrude Van Beek on Jan. 15, 1931, in Sioux Center. The couple farmed and later owned a hatchery-feed store.
He was a member of Netherlands Reformed Congregation and enjoyed gardening and flowers.
Survivors include his wife; a son and his wife, Dick and Clara Ann of Rock Valley; two daughters and their husbands, Trudy and Bill Koedam of Apache Junction, Ariz., and Alma and
Art den Hoed of Larchwood, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; and 38 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Dorothy Koedam; a son-in-law, Everet Koedam; two brothers, Ben and Dick; five sisters, Jennie, Hattie, Gertrude, Ida and Bess; and two great-granddaughters.
