MAURICE, Iowa - Mattie Johanna Brink, 89, of Maurice died Saturday, April 8, 2000, at Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull, Iowa.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Reformed Church in Maurice, with the Revs.
Wayne Sneller and Mark Haverdink officiating. Burial will be in Sherman Township Cemetery, with Oolman Funeral Home of Orange City, IA., making the arrangements.
Mrs. Brink was born April 3,1911, in Maurice, the daughter of John and' Minnie (Brink) Peelen. She was raised. in Maurice, where she graduated from high school. She married Jacob Brink on Feb. 17, 1932, in Maurice. The couple fanned in the Maurice area. _ She was employed as a clerk at a grocery store for many years and worked in a café. In February 1974, they moved into Maurice. Her husband died May 8, 1974, in Maurice. She entered Pleasant Acres Care Center in late 1995. She was a member of First Reformed Church, where she served as organist and participated in the women's activities. She was also a member of Maurice Womens Club.
Survivors include a daughter and her husband. Donna and George Kleinhesselink of Orange City; a son and his wife, Wayne and Crystal of Maurice; seven grandchildren, Scott and Corey Kleinhesselink, Roxanne Hawkins, Lynora Roosa, Kim De Jong, Randy Brink and Pam Jeltema;
and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, Dennis Jay; a grandson, Kent Evan Brink; and a sister, Geraldine Van Peursem.
