Another Soldier Summoned

The ranks of the Grand Army of '61 to '65
are rapidly diminishing as one by one the brave boys of that great
internal strife answer to the roll call of the Captain on High. The
last to answer the summons is Trumbull Granger, who died at his home
in this city Sunday morning from the bursting of a blood vessel He was
stricken with paralysis several months ago]
and since that time was confined to the house. He was thought to be
improving and on Saturday walked part way downtown. His sudden death
Sunday morning came as a shock to his many old friends in this
community. The deceased was born near Waukeegan, III , Aug. 15, 1847.
When a mere boy he enlisted as a musician in the 21st Ohio Volunteers
on Oct. 1861, for three years and served until Sept. 21, 1802, when he
was discharged by Gen. Buel's order mustering out all regimental
bands. He at once re-enlisted in the 21st Ohio Battery of light,,
artillery, being at that time only 15 years of age.

He served all through the war and was given his final discharge July
21st, 1865, at Camp Cleveland Ohio. He came to Sioux county in 1872
and homesteaded near Ireton. For the past twenty years he has made his
home in Hawarden and was one of the well known members of Mansfield
Post of this city. The funeral was Held Monday at the Congregational
church, Rev. Westlake preaching the funeral sermon, after which the
old comrades of Mansfield post took charge and conducted the last sad
rites at the grave. He leaves a wife, one brother and one sister
besides many friends and comrades
