CORNELIUS (CORNIE) VANDE WEERD was born on March 11, 1918 at Rock Valley , IA , the son of John and Anna (Boon) Vande Weerd. He grew up and
attended Christian School in Rock Valley . After his education he did farm work and
also construction. On May 7, 1940 he was united in marriage to Suzanne Van Schepen. Following their marriage Cornie worked as a heavy equipment operator. In 1943 they moved to Hull where he operated a feed grinding business.
Since 1947 Cornie and Suzanne have lived in Rock Rapids. Here they acquired an interest in the Kaiser - Frazer dealership and later they added farm machinery. For many years this company has been known as K and F Implement, selling Massey-Ferguson, White Farm Equipment and Gehl. In 1987 Cornie retired as owner but still continued to be involved the daily
activities as long as his health permitted. During his life , Cornie was an active member
of Christian Reformed Church and also served on Hull-Western Christian Board of
Education . Last Tuesday he died at McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls following a long
illness . At the time of his death he was seventy-three.
Surviving are his wife , Suzanne of Rock Rapids, and three children, Judy, Mrs. Bob Van Oriel of Rock Valley; Carl of Des Moines; and Byron of Rock Rapids. Also
surviving are ten grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, three sisters, Adeline Jensen of Larchwood; Marian Kuiper of Hudsonville, MI; Rose Van Kley of Grandville , MI; and
one brother, Jack Vande Weerd of Rock Valley.
Preceding him in death were his parents, two sisters, and one great-grandchild .
