Last Rites Held For Peter Vis, 70

Peter P. Vis, 70, of Rock Valley died at Hegg Memorial Hospital following a long illness.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 11, 10:00 a.m. in the first Reformed Church with the Rev. Ken Vis officiating. Organist, Mrs. John Koele accompanied the quartet, consisting of Willis Ten Haken, Harlan Ten Haken, Audley Tensen and Dr. Ed Vogte. Pallbearers were Gerrit John Leusink, Ed Vis, Peter J. Vis, Peter H. Vis, Herman Dykstra and Arnold Smit. Burial was in Hope Cemetery under the direction of Kraai Funeral Home.

Mr. Vis was born on July 30, 1900 in Hull. He married Johanna Vanden Berg on February 23, 1923, in Hull. He was a cream hauler for Farmers Co-op Creamery Association in Hull.

Survivors are his widow; four sons, Harvey of Marshalltown, Peter of Boyden, Gerald of Rock Valley and Clayton of Hull; two daughters, Mrs. Allen (Arnetta) Ten Haken of Hull and Mrs. Gilbert (Marie) De Ruyter of Rock Valley; four sisters, Mrs. Ed Dykstra, Mrs. John Andela, Mrs. August Smit of Hull and Mrs. Les De Zoete of Chino, Calif.; 21 grandchildren.
