BURIAL MADE IN MINNEAPLOIS

Homer L Dunham Laid to Rest beside Grave of His Brother

Mention was made last week of the death of Homer L. Dunham, former long time resident of this community, which occurred on April 20th at Fargo , ND. Mr. Dunham had been ill for about two weeks with influenza but appeared to be improving. He was being cared for at a rooming house in Fargo. When his dinner was taken to him by a brother of the lady who operates the rooming house he requested that he have his sister come up and write a letter for him. She did not go immediately but when she did he had fallen from the edge of the bed where he had been sitting to the floor and life was extinct. His death was attributing to heart failure
His daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Fogleson , and his son, Clarence Dunham, went to Fargo from Minneapolis and brief funeral services were held at the E.F. Moore Funeral Home in Fargo the morning of April 23rd .The body was taken to Minneapolis and funeral services were held there at 3:30 Tuesday afternoon, April 26th, at Crystal Lake cemetery and interment was made beside his brother, John Dunham , who passed away in Minneapolis a number of years ago. His wife and all three of his children were present at the funeral, his son Elmer making the trip to Minneapolis by airplane from Burbank, Calif. Mr. Dunham had been in Minneapolis most of the winter but left there on March 28th for Fargo to go to work but had not yet started to work when taken ill with influenza .

Homer L. Dunham was the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Thos H Dunham , early day residents of Sioux county. He was about 62 years of ages of age and was born on a farm a mile northeast of the present town of Chatsworth but the greater part of his life was spent on the old Dunham farm, a mile south of Hawarden, although in early manhood he farmed for a few years near Elk Point, SD. On Dec 31 1898, he was united in marriage at Elk Point with Miss Lavinnie Murdock. After the death of his parents he continued to operate the Dunham farm until it was sold to Chas Sedgwick in 1924. He then resided on the place for a year or two after which he moved to northern Minnesota where he farmed for a year or two. Later the family returned to Hawarden but during the past eight or ten years he has made only occasional visits here, being employed most of the time on farms and ranches in North Dakota and Minnesota. Mrs. Dunham continued to reside here until last summer since which time she has been with her daughter in Minneapolis.

Besides his wife he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Lester Fogelson of Minneapolis, and two sons, Clarence, and Elmer Dunham, now in Burbank, Calif. He also leaves three sisters, the eldest sister at Rock Island, ILL., and Mrs. Mabel Nowlin and Mrs. Arthur Pratt at Long Beach, Calif, two brothers preceded him in death.
