Mrs. John P. Vis Laid To Rest Wednesday, Oct. 23

Funeral services for Mrs. John P. Vis of Hull were held Wednesday afternoon at the home and at the Christian Reformed church. Mrs. Vis died very unexpectedly early Sunday morning [Oct. 20] at the home of her children, Mr. and Mrs. Rich Visser of Hudsonville, Michigan, where they were visiting. Mrs. Vis was stricken with a heart attack and died suddenly.

Mrs. John P. Vis, daughter of Albert Brummel and Johanna Fransen, was born on February 9, 1891, at Sioux Center, Iowa. When a young child she moved to the vicinity of Hull where she resided the rest of her life. She was married to John P. Vis on January 10, 1912, to which union nine children were born, two of whom preceded her in death, Willard at the age of one year and a little still-born son.

Seven children survive: Peter J. and Johanna (Mrs. Nelson Schreur) of Boyden; Henry J. of Orange City; Alberta (Mrs. Rick Visser) of Hudsonville, Michigan; Elizabeth (Mrs. Gerrit H. Franken) of Sioux Center; Albert J. of Hull; and Kathleen (Mrs. Peter Boer) of Sanborn.

Also surviving, besides the children, are her widower, Mr. John P. Vis; 26 grandchildren; three sisters, Alice (Mrs. Joe Kroese) of Hull; Minnie (Mrs. Nick Kooiker) of Boyden, and Alberta (Mrs. Ivan Kroese) of Hull. Besides these she leaves. to mourn, a host of relatives and a large circle of friends.

Besides her two sons she was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson, three sisters, Elizabeth (Mrs. Wm. Vis), Hattie, and Anna (Mrs. Herman Kooiker), her brother, Andrew Brummel, and 3 triplet brothers who died in infancy.

Mrs. Vis made her home in or around Hull all her life, where she always was an active member of her church and Christian School activities.
