Final Rites Held Wednesday For John P. Vis, 73

Funeral services were held for John P. Vis, 73, of Hull Wednesday, May 10, at 1:30 p.m., in the First Christian Reformed church with the Rev. John D. De Jong officiating. Burial was in the Hope cemetery in Hull under the direction of the Co-operative Funeral Service of Sioux Center.

Mr. John P. Vis passed away Monday morning, May 8, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Nelson Schreur in Hull, following a lingering illness.

He was a son of Peter Vis and Henrietta Juffer, born near Sioux Center on March 9, 1888. He married Marg Brummel, Jan. 10, 1912, and they farmed near Hull until 1955 when they moved to the town of Hull. They were members of the Hope Christian Reformed church in Hull.

He is preceded in death by his wife, who passed away October 20, 1957; two sons who died in infancy; his parents, one brother, Will, and three sisters, Kate (Mrs. Henry Leusink) and two died as infants; and one grandchild.

Survivors are three sons, Peter J. of Boyden, Henry J. of Orange City, Albert J. of Hull; four daughters, Johanna (Mrs. Nelson Schreur) of Hull, Elberta (Mrs. Rich Visser) of Hudsonville, Mich., Elizabeth (Mrs. Gerrit H. Franken, jr.) of Sioux Center, and Kathleen (Mrs. Peter Boer) of Sanborn; two brothers, Henry and Peter of Hull; four sisters, Mrs. Ed Dykstra and Mrs. John Andela, both of Hull, Mrs. August Smit of Boyden and Mrs. Leo De Zoet of Chino, Calif.; 31 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
