Peter J. Vis, 80, of rural Valley Springs, South Dakota, died Friday, December 11, at Tuff Memorial Home in Hills, Minnesota. Services were Tuesday, December 15, at 10:30 a.m. at Hills Christian Reformed Church with Pastor Allen Camarigg officiating. Burial was in the Hills Christian Reformed Cemetery.

Vis was born November 19, 1912, in Hull, the son of John and Maggie Brummel Vis. He attended Hull Christian Elementary School. He married Minnie Horn January 17, 1936, in Hull. After their marriage, they lived in the Sioux County area until 1962, when they moved to Valley Springs, where they farmed until their retirement. He had resided at the Tuff Memorial Home the past several months.

Survivors include his wife; five sons, John, Marlin, Allen and Norman, all of Valley Springs, and James of Hills; three daughters, Kathryn Hoogendoorn of Hills, Jo Anne Blankespoor of Doon and Linda Bork of Sherman, South Dakota; four sisters, Johanna Schreur of Sheldon, Alberta Visser of Hudsonville, Michigan, Elizabeth Franken of Sioux Center and Kathleen Boer of Hartley; 37 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

He was a member of Hills Christian Reformed Church where he had served as an elder. He also served on the school boards for Hull Christian School and Hills Christian School.

This obit also places his son James in Valley Springs, and gives his daughters' names as Mrs. Jake (Kathryn) Hoogendoorn, JoAnne Blankespoor, and Mrs. Harley (Linda) Bork.
