VIS, BRUMMEL, VERMEER

Funeral services for Mr. William Vis of Hull were held at his home and at the First Reformed church at Hull Saturday, September 4, with burial in the Hull cemetery. Rev. John De Jong officiated at the services. Mr. Vis passed away Tuesday morning, August 31, at the age of 69 years.

Mr. Vis was born April 10, 1885, on a farm five miles south of Hull. On January 10, 1912, he was married to Elizabeth Brummel. To this union two children were born. His wife and an infant daughter died on February 7, 1914. On January 2, 1917, he was married to Hattie Vermeer and to this union 11 children were born of which ten survive. He was preceded in death by a son, Gerrit John, who was killed in action on Okinawa on April 28, 1945, and two grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife and the following 11 children: Rev. Peter Vis and Cornelia, Mrs. Philip Flikkema of Manhattan, Mont.; Elizabeth, Mrs. Cornie Zevenbergen, of Orange City; Gertrude, Mrs. Everett Franken, of Sioux Center; Henrietta, Mrs. Rev. Cammenga, and Margaret, Mrs. Harold Van Otterloo, of Rock Valley; Edward of Hull; Kathryn, Mrs. Gerrit Van Kley, of Hawarden; Walter of Pella; Nellie at home and John of Edgerton, Minn. He is also survived by 31 grandchildren.
