Former Resident Funeral Service Here on Tuesday

Funeral services for Dirk Jan Ver Meulen were held Tuesday at the Methodist church, with Rev. H. C. Van Deelen officiating. Burial was made in the Valley View cemetery.

Mr. Ver Meulen died at the age of 63 years, on December 30, at the Spirit Lake hospital of a cerebral hemorrhage.

He was born on February 19, 1887, in Heeselt, Gelderland in the Netherlands. He came to this country at the age of three with his parents and lived at Rock Valley until seven years ago, when he moved to Spirit Lake to make his home with Mr. and Mrs. G. Hoevenagel.

Mr. Ver Meulen is survived by his sister, Mrs. Hoevenagel, a brother, Gerrit Ver Meulen, and several cousins.

A similar obituary in the Sioux Center News (Jan. 11) adds that he was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John Ver Meulen, who also died after they went to Spirit Lake.
