Henry - Pink - Ver Mulen[sic], 53, dies of heart attack Sunday

Funeral services for Henry (Pink) Ver Meulen, 53, of Rock Valley, who died suddenly at his home Sunday morning, were at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Mary's Catholic church in Rock Valley. Rev. R. W. Reinhart officiated, and burial was at St. Mary's cemetery. The rosary was recited at 8:00 p.m. at the Porter funeral home.

Mr. Ver Meulen was born July 31, 1910 in Rock Valley. He married Irma Walpole April 15, 1931. Mr. Ver Meulen was a World War II veteran and for the last 18 years was a salesman for the Thornburg Co.

Pallbearers were Stanley McKeegan, Bernard Splear, Dr. C. J. Schroeder, Hein Kosters, Donald Plueger, and Robert Thayer. Honorary pallbearers were Paul Pember, Albert Brower, Max Hamann, Ed De Smet, Jake Timmer, Robert Bonthuis, Fritz Hamann and Leo Grossenburg.

He is survived by the widow; one daughter, Mrs. Kenneth Scheffer of Rock Valley and 2 grandchildren.

Military funeral services for Henry Ver Meulen, 53, were held Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock at St. Mary's Catholic church with Rev. R. W. Reinhart officiating. He died of a heart attack suddenly Sunday morning after returning from church. Interment was in the St. Mary's cemetery.

Henry was born July 31, 1910 to Mr. and Mrs. Gerrit Ver Meulen at Rock Valley and grew to manhood here, graduating from Rock Valley High School. He is a veteran of World War II. He was married April 15, 1931 to Irma Walpole. He was employed by the Thornburg Co. for 18 years and was formerly a grocery clerk in Foppe's store. He was a member of the American Legion and the St. Mary's Catholic church.

Surviving are the widow, one daughter, Mrs. Kenneth Scheffer and two grandchildren.
