Harold Vlieger, 55, died Friday, August 21, at his home following a long illness.

Services were at 1:30 p.m. Monday in St. John's Lutheran Church at Ireton. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Ireton. A prayer service was held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the Dow Funeral Home in Ireton.

Mr. Vlieger, a widely known Maurice farmer, was born March 14, 1926, near Orange City. He married Gladys Becker Sept. 26, 1951, at Ireton. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and of the Lutheran Laymen's League and served as a church elder for many years and as Sunday school superintendent. He served in the Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Darrel (Janet) Barents of Maurice and Mrs. Darwin (Ellen) Draayer of Ireton; two sons, Robert and Howard of Maurice; two grandchildren; two brothers, James of Maurice and John of Bellflower, Calif., and three sisters, Mrs. Harold (Margaret) Hop of Central Point, Ore., Mrs. William (Laura) Korver of Maurice and Mrs. Wilfred (Ella Mae) Vande Burgt of Hull.
