NELSON JOHN VLIEGER

Memorial services were held in California on December 13 for Nelson John Vlieger.

He was born near Hospers, IA on August 15, 1923 to John and Minnie Vander Weerd Vlieger and died in California on December 10, 1990, at the age of 67 years, 4 months and 10 days. He attended the rural school. He married Arlene Schmidt of Sheldon, IA on June 8, 1945. They farmed near Hospers until 1955 when they moved to a farm near Hartley, IA. He was a retired farmer and they spent the winters in California.

He is survived by his wife Arlene and 2 children, John, and his wife Blanche of Omaha, NE, and Barbara, and her husband Daryl Ebel of Primghar, IA; also four sisters, Jeane Vlieger of Sheldon, Mrs. Mike (Harriet) Hulstein of Fulda, MN, Mrs. William (Theresa) Hulstein of Ashton, IA, and Mrs. Fred (Grace) Hulstein of Sheldon, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters and one brother who died in infancy.
