John E. Vermeer
Mr. John E. Vermeer, 78, 1984, Boyden, passed away Sunday, 78, at his residence.
John was born July 31, 1905, Hull, the son of Evert Vermeer and Johanna (Te Slaa) Verrneer.
On Feb. 9, 1927, he married Martha Mulder at Orange City. They farmed at Boyden, moving into town in 1953. Mr. Vermeer was member of the First Reformed Church of Boyden.
Survivors include his wife; daughters, Mrs. Casey (Louella) Smit of Boyden and Mrs. Larry (Marjorie) Chassels of Cherry Hill, N.J., 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Jennie Bosina of Sheldon and a half brother, William Verrneer of Sheldon.
John was preceded in death by his two sons, Edgar and Harvey and a grandson.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 11, 1984 at the First Reformed Church of Boyden with the Rev. Sylvester H. Moths officiating, assisted by Mr. Robert Jones. Interment followed at Sheridan Township Cemetery near Boyden, under direction of the Van Etten-Oolman Funeral Home of Orange City.
