Louise Vander Vliet 86 died Sunday December 24, 2006 at the Sioux Center Community Hospital
Memorial services will be Wednesday, December 27, 2006 in the Chapel of the First Reformed Church of Sioux Center with Reverend Roger Voskuil officiating
Interment will be held prior to the memorial service in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center.
Louise Vander Vliet was born June 22, 1920 to John and Ella ( Franken) Niessink, three miles east of Sioux Center Iowa. At the age of three her family moved to a farm one mile east of Sioux Center where Louise lived until her marriage to Gerrit Vander Vliet on January 30, 1946 Following their marrage Louise and Gerrit farmed near Maurice Iowa for two years. They then began farming the Niessink family farm east of Sioux Center. Gerrit preceded her in death on July 30, 1965 at the age of 52. Louise continued to reside on their farm until settling into her apartment at Crown Pointe in 2001. After suffering a stroke in August of 2006 she became a resident of Royale Meadows Care Center.
Louise was known as an excellent seamstress and for her beautiful crocheted and knitted items . Over the years she made many mittens, caps and quilts which she donated to the needy.
Her grandchildren will always remember her for all the Cookies and game she shared with them. She continued to enjoy games and puzzles with her acquaintances at Crown Pointe Louise was a life-long member of the First Reformed Church of Sioux Center
Louise is survived by her son and daughter; Harlyn and Kathlene Vander VIiet of Sheldon, son, Gregory Vander Vliet of Whitensville, Massachusetts; two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Anthony Bonnema of Sioux Center and Eileen and Norman Krull of George; along with her twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Louise is also survived by five sisters -in-la w, Win Ver Mulm of Rock Valley; Katherine Vander Vliet of Sioux Center, Nellie Vander Vliet of Rock Valley, Mina De Jong of Montevideo, Minnesota, Winnie Vander Vliet of Luverne, Minnesota and her numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband Gerrit, Louise was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Lubbert "Louie" Niessink
