Mr. Jacob Van Voorst Sr. passed away early Wednesday morning, Dec. 31, at the age of 75 years, 1 month and 22 days. He was born in the Netherlands and was united in marriage to Jennie Vander Hoef in January, forty-seven years ago. They came to America with the four oldest children and settled in Sioux county where they spent their entire lifetime except for seven years which were spent in Lyon county. Mr. and Mrs. Van Voorst retired in Sioux Center in 1943.

Mr. Van Voorst leaves to mourn his wife and the following children: Jacob Jr. of Rock Rapids; John of Inwood; Henry of Hull; Gertrude (Mrs. M. L. Hoogendorn), Sam of Rock Valley; Marie (Mrs. Henry Vande Stouwe), William, Harry of Orange City; Maurice of Rock Valley; Henrietta (Mrs. George Vonk) of Ireton; James of Sioux Center and Janet (Mrs. Wm. Vanden Top) of Inwood. He is further survived by forty-nine grandchildren, and two brothers who reside in the Netherlands.

Three sisters preceded him in death as well as one daughter who died at the age of 2 1/2 years.

Funeral services were held January 3 at 12:30 at the home and 2:00 at the Netherlands Reformed church with Rev. C. Hegeman officiating. Pallbearers were Mass Van Beek, Rochus Schelling, Henry Harskamp, Joe Van Ravenswaay, Arie Vander Weide and Bert Harskamp. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home of Sioux Center.

Hold Funeral Rites for Van Voorst

Funeral services for Jacob Van Voorst Sr. father of Sam and Maurice Van Voorst of Rock Valley, were held at the home at 1:p.m. and at the Netherland Reformed church a t 2 p. m. Saturday, Jan. 3. The services were conducted by Rev. C J. Hegeman were under the direction of Vander Ploeg funeral home. Interment was made at the Sioux Center community cemetery.
