Funeral services for Mrs. John Van Voorst, 55, nee Greta Rottier, a sister of Mrs. Casper Scheffer of Sioux Center, were held at the Porter Funeral Home at Rock Valley Tuesday with the Rev. J. Van Aweden officiating. Burial was made in Valley View cemetery at Rock Valley. Mrs. Van Voorst passed away at a Sioux Falls hospital Saturday after a long illness [actually, Saturday of the previous week, October 14].

She was born June 6, 1912, at Fremont, Mich. She was married Jan. 16, 1934, at Sioux Center, Iowa. They farmed in the Inwood, Iowa, area until retirement in March, 1967, when they moved to Rock Valley.

Survivors include the widower; three sons, Marvin of Whittier, Calif., and Norman and Daniel, both at home; a daughter, Mrs. Albert Van Beek of Rock Valley; two sisters, Mrs. Casper Scheffer of Sioux Center, and Mrs. LeRoy Thomas of Phoenix, Ariz.; her stepmother, Mrs. Martin Rottier of Sioux Center; and six grandchildren.
