From the Alton Democrat of Feb 25, 1899 Maurice news.
Mr. and Mrs. Van Mannen's little daughter died last Sunday morning of pneumonia.
(This was found to be Jennie Van Maanen 7 mos, who died Feb 19, 1899 recorded in the Sioux County death records. Her parents were Evert Van Maanen b. 16 Dec 1856 Ede, Netherlands and died 25 Jul 1902 at Maurcie IA. He married 14 Jan 1881 Wageningen Gelderland Netherlands to Gerritje Haalboom born 1860 in Wageningen Neth. In the 1900 census he was the father of Henry 18, Arrie 17, Dari 14, Grace 10, Minnie 6, Guy 6, Hattie 4 and Albert 5mo. In the 1910 census his wife and family were living in Volga SD Gertie 51, Minnie 18, Guy 16, Hattie 14, Albert 10, and Evert 7. Evert was killed in a train accident 25 Jul 1902, see his obit.)
