Alice G. Van Voorst, 88, of Sioux Center died Sunday, September 23, at Royale Meadows Care Center in Sioux Center.

A memorial service was Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Netherlands Reformed Church of Sioux Center with the Rev. E. C. Adams officiating. Interment was in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center.

Mrs. Van Voorst was born to Jacob and Sophie (Van Ravenswaay) Dibbet on June 29, 1919, near Ireton. She attended country school. She married William Van Voorst on April 24, 1941, near Hull. They farmed near Perkins, Doon and Orange City. They retired to Sioux Center in 1979.

She was a lifelong member of the Netherlands Reformed Congregation in Sioux Center where she was an active member of the Dorcas Society and a strong support to her husband who served as an elder to the congregation. She worked at the Orange City Hospital and Home Health in a caring and loving manner. She enjoyed baking, sewing, crafts, and spending time with her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was known for her green thumb and her baking talents, especially her pies.

She is survived by five sons and their wives, Wayne and Arlene of Sioux Center, James and Linda of Byron, Illinois, Carl and Jan of Castlewood, South Dakota, Marvin and Janice of Ireton, and Dave and Lisa of Lynden, Washington; six daughters and their husbands, Janet and Willard Post of Doon, Sheryl and Norm Vande Berg of Woodstock, Minnesota, Esther and Ron Van Der Brink of Sioux Center, Norma and Steve Van Vliet of Orange City, Ruth and Warren Vander Helm of Sioux Center and Leann and Mike Klootwyk of Orange City; 40 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; one brother, Jacob (Priscilla) Dibbet of Sioux Center; three sisters, Gertrude and John Draayer, Arlene and Alvin Hoogendoorn and JoAnn Maassen, all of Rock Valley; and two sisters-in-law, Junaida Dibbet and Henrietta Dibbet, both of Sioux Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years; three granddaughters; two brothers, Richard and John Dibbet; and a brother-in-law, Raymond Maassen.

The Van Voorst family prefers memorials be directed to CHEARS Home Health & Hospice, Royal Meadows Care Center or the Netherlands Reformed Christian School.
