Funeral Services Held Monday for Harry Van Voorst

Funeral services were held at Trinity Reformed church in Orange City at 1:30 p.m. Monday, May 25, for Harry Van Voorst, 51, former Sioux Center area farmer, a resident of Orange City, who died at a Rochester, Minn. hospital May 21, while undergoing open heart surgery.

Services were conducted by the Rev. Donald Lenderink and burial was made in West Lawn Cemetery at Orange City with Vander Ploeg's Funeral home in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Van Voorst was employed here as warehouse manager by Interstates Electric and Engineering Co., Inc., at the time of his death.

He was born at Alvord, March 6, 1919, and was married to Jeanette Rozeboom August 12, 1941, at Sundance, Wyo. Mr. Van Voorst was a veteran of World War II, and served in the European area. During the time he farmed west of Sioux Center he and his family attended the First Reformed church of Sioux Center and [he] had served at one time as a deacon of the consistory.

Survivors include the widow, two daughters, Mrs. Ron (Janice) Nugteren of Orange City; Miss Diane, at home; four [i.e., five] sons, Conrad of U.S. Army, Harlan, Myron of Pella, Randall, Jerry of Orange City; four sisters, Mrs. Merrit Hoogendoorn of Rock Valley, Mrs. Henry Vande Stouwe of Orange City, Mrs. George Vonk of Ireton, Mrs. Wm. Vanden Top of Hull; four brothers, Sam of Spencer, William of Orange City, Maurice of Rock Valley, James of Hull; and three grandchildren.
