TRACY (DE JONG) VERMEER was born to Gerrit B. and Johanna (Borgman) Feekes on August 31, 1913, on the family farm north of Carmel, Iowa. Tracy grew up on the farm and attended Plato #6 rural school through the eighth grade.
On November 6, 1935, she was united in marriage to Tony De Jong in the parsonage of Carmel Reformed Church. Tracy and Tony were blessed with five children. They farmed the Feekes Family farm north of Carmel. Tony preceded Tracy in death in 1970, ending their marriage of 34 years. Tracy married Henry A. Vermeer on June 30, 1978. Following their marriage, Tracy and Henry lived in Wyoming, Michigan, for three years until Henry’s death, at which time she returned to her home in Carmel.
Throughout her life Tracy had been an active member of Carmel Reformed Church.
Surviving are her children: Peter T. and Evelyn De Jong of Carmel; Gerald "Butch" and Sandra De Jong of Fort Deposit, AL; James and Kay De Jong of Orange City; Verna and Donald Lindskoog of Leesburg, FL, and Janice De Jong of Carmel; Henry’s children: Dale Vermeer of Kentwood, Ml; Barb and John Myaard of Holland, MI; Linda and Ed Van Dam of Bloomfield Hills, MI, along with her 15 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Tracy is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Bernice and Howard Loewen of Alton; sister, Dorothy Van Voorst of Sioux Center and numerous nieces and nephews.
