Hudson SD News
DIED :—On Thursday evening at the home of his daughter, Mrs. P. H. Fritts, Abraham Miller, at the ripe old age of nearly ninety-four years.
The deceased was born in New York state on May 6th, 1805, and came out west in the pioneer days. He was one of the first settlers in the village of Eden, whicl?has grown to be the Hudson of the present day. Mr. Miller has been married twice and he survived the death of his second wife over two years, she passing away on
January 24th, 1897. He was an honest upright man and a good citizen, well liked by all. Inded everyone loved and respected the venerable
old gentleman, and he was known and addressed by all who knew him as "Grandpa Miller," in token of the love and esteem in which he was held
by the whole community. Several of his children as well as many other relatives survive him. His remains were followed to their last resting place in the cemetery here last Sunday, by a large train of friends, which, as the weather was bitterly cold and disagreeable, shows how he was
esteemed by all. Peace be to his ashes, and may we all, at the end of a long and useful life be able to say that we have as little to regret and asmany joyful anticipations to look forward to in the better life to come as he had.
