Miss Nellie Berry died suddenly at the family home here on Tuesday evening of heart failure. She had been in good health and death came without any warning. Her untimely and sudden death is a terrible blow to the bereaved family. The remains were taken to Streator IL. for interment. Her former home, and where her father and mother were on a visit at the time of her death.
(This is believed to be the daughter of Thomas and Sarah Berry. The Rock Valley Bee reported that she had a brother John in the death notice in that paper of Mar 17, 1899. Also, there are references to Miss Sadie and Miss Nellie Berry from Rock Valley in various newspaper items in the newspapers of the time. In 1900 census of Rock Tsp. Thomas born Apr 1833 Ireland came to USA in 1850, wife Sarah b. Jun 1836 Ireland mother of 13 children only 5 were living in 1900. Sadie was the only child living with them in 1900 b. Mar 1872. John Berry born Aug 1862 ILL brother of Nellie, his wife was Nellie also. So three of the five children are named, Sadie, John and Nellie. No further info could be found about the family other than the 1870 and 1880 census, when the family was living in Sunbury, Livingston Co. IL. In 1870 the children were - Mary 10, Edward 9, John 7, Thomas 4, Richard 2, Sara 3, and James 3 mo. In 1880 the children were - Mary 19, Edward 18, John 16, Thomas 14, Sarah 13, Richard 11, James 9, Ella 7, Lissie 3 and living with them was Thomas 80 (father of Thomas head of household)
