Gregory Kent Vermeer
Gregory Kent Vermeer, 54, of Dade City, Fla., passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 2, under the care of Hernando Pasco Hospice in Hudson, Fla.
A celebration of Greg’s life will be held on Sunday, Jan. 13, at 3 p.m. at Community United Methodist Church of San Antonio, 32606 Michigan Ave., San Antonio, FL 33576. There will be a time of greeting and fellowship from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the fellowship hall.
Greg was born on October 21, 1953 in Ames to Wallace and Joanne (Vonk) Vermeer,
and moved to the Dade City area four years ago from St. Petersburg, Fla., where he lived for the past 20 years.
Greg was employed as the Fish Health Biologist with the Honda Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. He served as the Commission’s liaison to statewide fisheries health issues and served on the commission’s Freshwater Fish Health Policy Committee.
Greg is survived by his wife of 28 years, Kimberly Vermeer; his daughter and son-in-law Leah and Ted Yeatts of Ft. Myers, Fla.; his son Thomas Vermeer of Gainesville, Fla.; his parents Joanne and Wallace Vermeer of Orange City; sister, Julie Elliott of Malvern, Penn.; and three brothers, Brent Vermeer of Phoenix, Ariz., Barry Vermeer of Australia and Dan Vermeer of Atlanta, Ga.
