Died: March 14, 1952 Sioux Center, IowaFuneral services were held March 18, 1952 at the home at 1:00 and 1:30 at the First Reformed Church with Rev. P.A. De Jong officiating.
Casket bearers were Gerrit E. Vermeer, Gerald Den Herder, Henry Kosters, Edward Jansen, Edward J. Sneller, Lowell Vande Berg, with interment in Sioux Center Community Cemetery now called Memory Gardens Cemetery.Mrs. Gerrit Vermeer Sr, nee Peterje Vermeer, passed away very suddenly Friday evening at her home of a heart attack at the age of 85 years, 1 day. Mrs. Vermeer was born in the Netherlands and came to America early in life and on Dec. 22, 1886, she was united in marriage to Mr. Gerrit Vermeer who preceded her in death on Oct. 20, 1923. To this union eight children were born and the following survive; Ed Vermeer; Jake Vermeer; Jennie (Mrs. Gerrit L. Vande Berg); Marie, (Mrs. John Den Herder); all of Sioux Center; Gerrit Vermeer; Elizabeth,(Mrs. Herman Van Eldik) of Rock Valley; and Pricilla, (Mrs. James Hollander,) also of Sioux Center. One son Benjamin, also preceded her in death on April 13, 1944. She is further survived by nineteen grandchildren, and thirty-one great grandchildren. The following three brothers preceded her in death; Everett Vermeer, Henry Vermeer, and Peter Vermeer.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, March 18, for Mrs. Gerrit Vermeer, Sr.,
who passed away at her home on Friday evening following a heart attack. She had reached the age of 85 years and one day.
Mrs. Vermeer, nee Peterje Vermeer, was born in the Netherlands on March 13, 1867 and came to America early in life. On Dec. 22, 1886 she was united in marriage to Gerrit Vermeer who preceded her in death on October 20, 1923. To this union eight children were born, and the following now survive: Edward Vermeer Jake Vermeer; Jennie, (Mrs. Gerrit L. Vander Berg); Marie (Mrs. John G. Den Herder); all of Sioux Center, Gerrit Vermeer and Elizabeth (Mrs. Herman Van Eldik) of Rock Valley, and Priscilla (Mrs. James Hollander) also of Sioux Center.
She is further survived by 19 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband she was preceded in death by a son, Benjamin, who passed away on April 13, 1944, as also three brothers, Everett Vermeer, Henry Vermeer, and Peter Vermeer.
Services were held at the home and at the First Reformed Church with Rev. P. A. De Jong officiating. Burial took place at the local cemetery with the following grandsons as pall bearers Gerrit E. Vermeer, Gerald Den Herder, Henry Kosters, Edward Jansen, Edward J. Sneller and Lowell Vande Berg.
