Leonard G. (Curly) Schiefen, 59, Hawarden,, died Saturday (July 21, 1973) at the Hawarden Hospital.

The funeral was at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Hawarden. with Rev. William Carel officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery at Hawarden under direction of the Dow Funeral Home.

Mr. Schiefen was born April 21, 1914, near Hawarden. He married Dorothy Hughes Feb. 8, 1937, at Hawarden. They farmed in the Hawarden area.

Survivors are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Durward (Beverly) Rieper of Cleghorn; two sons, Lawrence and William, both of Hawarden. Also four sisters, Mrs. Art (Mary) Majors of Sioux City, Mrs. Ann Vogelzang of Hawarden and Mrs. Lawrence (Josephine) Muth and Mrs. Ed (Esther) Borchers, both of Akron; two brothers, Leo of Alcester, S.D., and Francis of Le Mars and eight grandchildren.
