Obituary: Rock Valley, IA: Natalie Plueger, 59, of Rock Valley, died Friday, December 9, 2011 west of Rowena, SD on highway #42 in a single vehicle accident due to a medical problem. Memorial Service will be 2 pm Tuesday, December 13 at Beaver Valley Lutheran Church east of Brandon, SD. Private Burial at Beaver Valley Lutheran Cemetery. Rev. Jerry Merkouris officiating.
Natalie Jane Olson was born July 4, 1952 at Sioux Falls, SD and shared the nursery with her long time friend, Nancy Erickson. All the neighbors were thrilled that Norman and Doris (Hanson) Olson "had a girl". She attended Valley Springs Elementary and graduated from Brandon-Valley High School in 1970. She went to Augustana College where she was a member of Kappa Sigma Chi Sorority and played clarinet in the concert band. She also played in the Sioux Falls Municipal Band during the summers of 1970-74; was a member of Rowena Rustling Raisers 4-H Club; worked at the Homemakers Center during the Sioux Empire Fair. Natalie started her teaching career at Rock Valley, Iowa teaching 2nd, Kindergarten, Title Reading, and retired as 2nd grade teacher, following the 2010-2011 school year. Natalie was married to the love of her life, Terry Plueger on December 27, 1976 at the Beaver Valley Lutheran Church. They became parents to Allison Marie on August 10, 1987 and Kristen Ann on August 26, 1993.
Natalie is survived by her husband, Terry Plueger of Rock Valley; 2 daughters, Allison and husband Darin Porter of Brandon, SD, Kristen Plueger and special friend Barry Spaans of Sioux Falls; grandchildren, Cole, Alayna, and Alexander Porter; 3 brothers, Ken Olson of Valley Springs, SD, Roger (Jenny) Olson Hudson, WI, Jim (Sue) Olson of Valley Springs, SD; sister Ann (Larry) Beesley of Brandon, SD.
Natalie was preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Doris Olson; sister-in-law, Linda Olson; parents-in-law, Ken and Lois Plueger.
