Arthur "Sam" Jones,79, of Ireton, died Oct 26, at the Hawarden Community Hospital. Funeral services were held on Tuesday in the United Methodist Church in Ireton with Rev. Herbert Gould officiating. Burial services were held at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery under the direction of Dow Funeral Home of Ireton.

Mr. Jones was born Feb. 27, 1894, at Ireton, and served with the Navy during World War I. He married Esther Kaske on Sep. 7, 1921 in Madison, SD. The couple farmed in the Hawarden, Ireton area until their retirment in 1951. They lived in Hawarden for seven years and moved to Madison where they lived until 1971 when they moved to Ireton. He was a member of the American Legion.

Survivors include the widow; one son Marion of Colton, SD.; a sister Mrs. Daisy Bartlett of Le Mars, Iowa; three grandchildren and one great grandchildren
