Obituary: HAWARDEN, IOWA- Lawrence E. Keehn, 88, of Hawarden, died Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at the Hillcrest Health Care Center in Hawarden.
Memorial Service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at the United Methodist Church in Hawarden with Reverend Barb Joy officiating.
Lawrence Edward Keehn was born June 1, 1923 in Chatsworth, Iowa, the son of Henry and Della (Patrick) Keehn. He married Marylan Brehm in 1956. They traveled while he worked in road construction with the Van Buskirk Construction Company. They later made their home in Hinton, Iowa. Lawrence was employed by the Hinton School District as a bus mechanic and driver beginning in 1969. While living in Hinton, Lawrence served as Mayor, as a Boy Scout Leader, and also was a member of the Hinton Fire Department. He later moved to Ireton, Iowa where he continued as a mechanic with the West Sioux School District until he retired at the age of 62 years, when he moved to Hawarden.
Lawrence very much enjoyed fishing and collecting auction stuff.
He is survived by his son, Tom Keehn of Westfield, Iowa; his daughter, Paula Keehn of Forest City, Iowa; a sister, Hazel Wasser of Hawarden; nieces, Norma Petry and Marjane Burgard; a nephew, Dennis Wasser and their families.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Lloyd.
