Funeral services for Mrs. John G. De Boer of Rock Valley were held Monday, January 24, at the home and at the Christian Reformed church at Rock Valley with Rev. C. Huissen officiating. Burial was in the Rock Valley Cemetery with Vander Ploeg’s Funeral Home of Sioux Center in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. John G. De Boer, nee Hattie Van Grouw, passed away Friday morning, Jan. 21, at her home at the age of 71 years, 9 months and 18 days. In February of 1904 she was united in marriage after a farm which they moved to a farm near Hull where they
remained only a short time and then settled on a farm near Rock Valley, where they spent 30 years together. In 1941 they moved to town where they retired and on May 3, 1953, Mr. De Boer preceded her in death.
Mrs. De Boer is survived by the following children: Cora, Mrs. John Otten of Doon; Hattie, Mrs. Nick Cleveringa of Rock Valley; Gertie, Mrs. Neal Van Middendorp of Rock Rapids; Effie, Mrs. Bessel Van Middendorp of Alvord; Gernt; Jennie, Mrs. Bert Driesen; Arthur and Oscar, all of Rock Valley. One son died in infancy. She is also survived by 28 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren and one brother, John Van Grouw of Okaton, S. D. Two brothers, Oscar and Claus, and one sister preceded her in death in the Netherlands.
