Ireton, IA - Henry De Kraay, 64, of Sioux Center, a part-time employee in the Ireton drug store died Friday night at his home following a heart attack.

Mr. De Kraay was a life long resident of Sioux County and druggist for many years.

Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon at the Central Reformed church in Sioux Center. An honor guard of the Doornink-Brunstine American Legion Post of Sioux Center attended the services.

He was born April 21, 1889, at Orange City. He was a veteran of World War I, having served four years. In 1921 he opened a drug store at Sioux Center. Because of illness he sold his business five years ago and worked part time at the Ireton drug store.

Since his marriage to Lena Rowenhorst, of Orange City in 1923, he lived at Sioux Center.

Survivors are the widow; two sons, Robert of Orange City and Warren of Sioux City, and one grandchild.

Funeral services for Henry De Kraay, retired Sioux Center pharmacist who was in the drug business here more than 27 years before selling out in 1948, were held here Monday.

Mr. DeKraay died of a heart attack at about noon Friday while doing a little work around his yard. A heart condition had forced his retirement in 1948 and since then he had done limited work as a pharmacist at the V and P Variety Store here and at the drug store in Ireton. He was 64.

Services were held at the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home and at the Central Reformed Church with Rev. Leroy Nattress officiating. Burial was at the cemetery here.

Henry DeKraay was born April 21, 1889 at Orange City, IA, where he grew to manhood. He served about 2 1/2 years in the Army during WWI and was with the American Expeditionary Forces in France.

Shortly after being released from the Army he worked as a pharmacist in Sioux City and later came to Sioux Center to establish the DeKraay Drug Store in 1921. He was married in 1923 to Lena Rowenhorst of Orange City, and to this union three sons were born, Robert, who now resided in Orange City, Warren H., who is in college, and Herman, who died in infancy.

He was a member of the Central Reformed church here and a member of the local post of the American Legion.

Besides his widow and two sons, he is survived by one grandchild, Ross David and two sisters in Orange City, Kathryn DeKraay and Etta DeKraay. Two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
