DeKraay, Harry - Died 1937

Sioux Center News, February 18, 1937

Word was received by Henry DeKraay of the death of his brother Harry at Rapid City, SD, after a week or more illness with pneumonia. Mr. De Kraay had been called to Rapid City early in the week to be with his brother whose illness at that time was considered very serious. On Friday morning he started home, the sick man having showed slight improvement. Arriving at Mitchell, a telegram awaited him telling him of his brothers death.

Harry De Kraay was formerly of this vicinity having graduated 30 years ago from Orange City high school. He worked in Sioux City for a wholesale firm, and from there he went to Rapid City where after a period, he bought out his employer in the hardware business. He was State President of the South Dakota Hardware dealer association at the time of his death. He was married to Pearl Barto in 1906. His mother, Mrs. Herman De Kraay of Orange City, one daughter Delores, and his wife survive, besides several brothers and sisters namely: Etta of Aberdeen; Herman of Orange City; Katharine of Talihina, OK; George of Sioux City; Mrs. Earl Vandenburgh of Milford, IA, and Henry of Sioux Center. The funeral was held Tuesday in the Methodist Church at Rapid City, Rev. Johnson officiating. Interment took place there.
