Effie De Boer, 91, of Boyden died Wednesday at the Good Samaritan Center in George.
Services were at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 6, at First Reformed Church in Boyden with the Rev. Phillip Sneller officiating. Burial was in the Sheridan Township Cemetery near Boyden.
Mrs. De Doer was born March 8, 1905, in Hull, the daughter of Henry and Gertrude (Van Beek) Korthals. She was raised in Hull, where she attended elementary school. As a young adult, she moved to Boyden with her mother. She married Peter De Boer on December 17, 1928, in Boyden. The couple made their home in Boyden. He died January 31, 1972, in Sheldon. She became a resident of the Good Samaritan Center in September 1991.
She was a member of First Reformed Church, where she had participated in the Martha Circle.
Survivors include three daughters and their husbands, Jean and John Doorenbos and Darlene and John Hollander, all of Boyden, and Dorothy and Ivan Van Ommeren of Cedar Falls; one son and his wife, Harold and Mary De Boer of Lenexa, Kansas; one sister, Minnie Bonestroo of Hull; two sisters-in-law, Dena Korthals ol Hills, Minnesota, and Jessie Eckhardt of Oregon; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
