Grand Rapids, MI - Wilma Jean Dekker, 68, Grand Rapids, MI, died Saturday, Aug. 12 of cancer.
Services were Thursday, Aug. 17, at Shawnee Park Christian Reformed Church in Grand Rapids, with the Rev. Roger Kok officiating. Burial was at Winchester Cemetery in Grand Rapids, under the direction of De Vries Funeral Home in Grand Rapids.
Wilma Dekker, daughter of John & Anne (De Boer) Den Hartog, was born Aug. 15, 1931 in Hospers. She moved to Salt Lake City, UT in 1957 as a Christian School teacher. She married Roger Dekker on Feb. 14, 1958. They lived in Salt Lake City for 40 years, where they raised their family. They moved to Grand Rapids, MI in April of 2000, to be near their children and grandchildren.
She was a faithful member of First Christian Reformed Church in Salt Lake.
Survivors include her husband, Roger Dekker; two daughters, Shellie & Peter Kooy and Rebecca Dekker; a son, Roger & Lisa Dekker; and four grandchildren; five brothers, Francis & Ada Den Hartog of Modesto, CA; Richard & Ann Den Hartog of Primghar; Howard & Jennie Den Hartog of Flint, MI; Don & Audrey Den Hartog of Orange City, and John Jr. & Ann Den Hartog of Hospers; five sisters, Angie Zwagerman of Cokato, MN; Genevieve Van Kooten of Sanborn; Luella Grotenhuis of Hospers; Alma Van Kley of Sibley, and Wanda & Glen Felmlee of Cokato, MN; and sister-in-law, Alvina Den Hartog of Orange City.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Alvin "Bob" Den Hartog.
