Sibley - William "Bill" Dekker, Sr., 91, Sibley, died Wednesday morning, July 12, at Sibley Nursing & Rehab Center.
Services were Friday, July 14, at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Sibley, with Father Clair Boes officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery, under the direction of Walton-Roste-Funeral Home in Sibley.
Bll Dekker, son of Jacob Sr., and Adriana (Wildeman) Dekker, was born June 18, 1915 in Hull. He attended rural schools through the eighth grade in the Hull and Matlock area. He married Bernadette May on Feb. 24, 1941 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ashton. They farmed north of Sibley for 65 years.
He was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Sibley, where he served on the finance committee. He was a member of the board of directors for Allendort Elevator and Osceola County Rural Schools. He took pride in his family, was a dedicated farmer and an avid fisherman.
Survivors include his wife, Bernadette Dekker of Sibley; three children, William J. & Maribeth Dekker of Savage, MN; Kathryn Dykstra of Colorado Springs, CO, and Janet & Michael Steele of Fairbury, NE; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Pearl and Bert Zoet of Sheldon, and Cora Fick of Casa Grande, AZ; and a brother, Eugene & Margaret Dekker of Casa Grande, AZ.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Eileen Duin.
