Marlin M. Dittmer, 77, of Mesa AZ, a former Ireton resident, died Tuesday, July 1, 1997. Funeral services were held on Monday, Jul 7, at Mesa. Cremated remains were buried at Mesa National Menorial Cemetery at Phoenix AZ.
Marlin Dittmer was born March 9, 1920 at Ireton IA, the son of Elmer and Hannah Nanninga Dittmer, and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheren faith. Following the tragic death of his mother soon after he was born, and the untimely death of his father in an automobile accident in 1933, he was raised by his aunt, Myrtle Dittmer. He graduated from Ireton High School with the class of 1937, and served in the US Navy during World War II.
Survivors include his wife Doris, of Mesa; a son Thomas Dittmer of New York City, NY; three step children; a half brother Delmond Dittmer of Arizona; and two Grandchildren Jason and Alexis.
(Marlin's first wife and mother of Thomas was Evelyn Robertson).
